Systems Engineer

Duties:
Analyze user requirements, procedures and problems, to automate processing and to improve existing computer systems. Identify problems and learn specific input and output requirements. Write detailed description of user needs, program functions and steps required to develop or modify computer program. Review computer system capabilities, workflow and scheduling limitations. To determine if requested program or program change is possible within existing system. Study existing information processing systems to evaluate effectiveness and develop new system to improve production or workflow as required.

Requirement:

Minimum Bachelors in Computer Science/ Information Systems or Related and Two Years of experience in job offered or as System Analyst.

Web Graphic Designers

As a Web Graphic Designer, you will work with clients and project teams to develop client-based project interfaces that create an effective user experience. As part of the VALIDTM Methodology, you will be involved in the VALIDTM workshop, and create concepts that reflect the customers evolving requirements. Strong communication and writing ability as well as detail-oriented artistic skills a must. In addition, you will: create user interfaces from scratch; work on tight deadlines and manage multiple projects; work with a variety of servers and web-connected databases; troubleshoot and perform fixes; create structured web development for inter/intranets; update and maintain information in pages; Applicants must be self-starters, eager to learn new technologies and applications. Software/Database Developers

Chief Architects

As one of a few chief architects, you will interact on a regular basis with our chief technology officer. At any one time, you will be responsible for the technical approach for several ongoing projects. Working with the project managers, you will provide technical guidance, advice and support to the project teams and interact regularly with the customer.
You will be responsible for ensuring that the Digital Focus VALID™ methodology is correctly applied on each project. You will provide guidance to team leaders in design protocols and desired functionality in development programs. You will need excellent technical and communication skills and will be given the opportunity to publish. You will develop and ensure implementation of policies, procedures and quality standards. Experience should include extensive knowledge of key enabling technologies such as object-oriented programming, Java, C++, methodologies, databases and CORBA. Direct experience with application servers and middleware architectures such as CORBA and DCOM is desired.
Requirements include a proven track-record in system architecture design and a BS/BA in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics or other related technical field.

Senior Architects

As a senior architect, you will manage and coordinate through professional staff the design, development, architecture and test of complex software programs for computer-based systems. You will have responsibility for the project from beginning to end. You will lead the evaluation of hardware and software compatibility and recommend program requirements. You will be responsible for content decisions, with input from other departments. You will work closely with the chief architect for your group and will interface with the chief technology officer on a regular basis. You will need the technical skills necessary to solve problems and recommend solutions across a wide spectrum of products and platforms. As the technical lead on a project, you will be responsible for ensuring quality and adherence to the Digital Focus methodology and standards. Architects

As an architect, your primary challenge will be understanding the latest technologies as they become available and communicating the benefits, drawbacks, risks and features of these technologies as they apply to business environments. You will be responsible for: design and development of system- and application-level software architecture using Internet/intranet technologies and relational databases; database design; application of business modules to program/system designs; testing and debugging of the system. Architects should have demonstrated skills in understanding and applying complex technologies. Senior Software Engineers

MCSE

MCSE needed, Responsibility will be to go to client sites and install NT servers for Military installations. Wants Minimum 1 year experience, there will be extensive travel, need to be a citizen and able to get security clearance.

Cold Fusion Programmer

Cold Fusion programmer with 1 1/2 to 2 years experience. Needs to know SQL back end server and Visual Basic also. Will be working in Washington DC for about 4 months and then will be permanent in Maryland at their corporate headquarters.

Java Programmer

Needs 1 year experience with Java Programming, C++ experience also. Want BS degree or will substitute experience for education. Citizenship status must me US Citizen, location will be in Reston Virginia.

Visual C++ or Visual Basic Programmers

We are looking for two programmers to develop software for a majot ISP in Reston, VA. These will people will be part of a team to build CD that will be distributed to our customers who want to subscribe to our DSL high speed internet access.
Skills required: Knowledge of Microsoft OS, Win 95, 98, NT and networking technologies Experience with InstallShield, Demoshield VB and or VC++ Knowledge of Browsers Netscape and IE.

Voice / Data Analyst

Duties:
Provide technical support in installation and maintenance of LANs and WANs. Monitor network performance and Data Communications to ensure that network is available to all users. Perform network diagnostics and availability analysis. Assist in eveluation of hardware and software including peripheral, output and Telecommunications equipment. Install network hardware and software including network operating system. Troubleshoot and resolve routine problems.

Requirements:
Minimum Bachelors in any field and Two years of experience in job offered or as Network Analyst/ Operator.

FoxPro Programmer

Acts as systems programmer and administrator for various FoxPro-based information systems. May also perform in a secondary role as systems programmer for Oracle and/or Java-based systems. Typical assignments require application of the more advanced programming and system administration techniques. Interfaces with clients and project manager daily and prior to making any changes to the system programs. Monitors and reports on system usage and performance. Prepares and maintains documentation of all supported systems. May research, gather, analyze and organize materials for reports or presentations. Responsibilities may include entire project to finished production and application distribution of the data. Completes other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

Title: Manager of Customer Engineering

Requirements BA or equivalent from a four - year college; or equivalent education and experience. Must be well versed in TCP/IP, DNS, basic UNIX systems administration, telecommunications terminology and technology and BGP/IP routing. Must be familiar with Cisco switches and routers. Must be able to understand ARIN and relevant Internet policies and accepted practices and explain them to customers. Must have a minimum of 7 years of industry experience, including a minimum of 4 years of management experience, plus excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must have excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to diffuse difficult situations and be a skilled leader of a diverse, technical workforce. Must be self-managed, self-motivated and pro-active. Must grasp new concepts quickly and seek to improve company and departmental processes and procedures. Description Will manage a group of up to 14 Customer Engineers and Senior Customer Engineers. The CEs and SCEs provide network engineering support for AboveNet Co-location Customers by maintaining and troubleshooting the ISX network infrastructure. Responsible for network troubleshooting for customer tickets that have been escalated through the Call Center and the (previously known as Level-1) System Support Technicians/Network Technicians within the ISXs. Will manage the following types of work and services performed by the Customer Engineering Department: Customer Order Processing: Verification of IP address justification, assignment of IP addresses/ranges, creation of customer bandwidth graphs and accounts, customer switch/terminal server port activation , modification/update of customer switch port assignment, establishment of bandwidth limits for specific customers; Customer Support: assist in the resolution of customer installation problems, set-up and modification of APS entries for customers, explanation of MRTG, APS, 95th percentile, etc. to customers, assist customer with designing/planning/implementing hardware/software selections. Must communicate effectively, possess strong organizing, planning and interpersonal skills to lead and motivate a diverse group performing multiple assignments in a rapidly changing technological environment. Description Responsibilities include: manages large complex functions(s) and provides direct supervision to Project Managers/Engineers, plans and implements programs and projects that adhere to approved plans, budgets and schedules, provides specialized technical expertise, coordinates and facilitates with internal and external resources to effect the timely completion of projects, directly responsible for selection, training and performance evaluation of employees, coaches his/her workforce in order to project manage in a rapidly changing technological environment. Requirements A Bachelors degree in Engineering (preferably Electrical Engineering). At least 1 year of managerial / supervisory experience in a telecommunications environment, a comprehensive understanding of telecommunications, network structures, topologies, Outside Plant Engineering, and transport technologies. Must have at least 3 years experience in developing, designing and managing strategic integrated network plans, and a thorough knowledge of the various mechanized systems that are used to support and manage network development, a demonstrated ability to quickly assimilate technical data, methods and procedures, must be able to perform effectively in an unstructured environment and work with a diverse group; performing multiple assignments, in a rapidly changing technological environment, must communicate effectively and possess strong organizing, planning, interpersonal and leadership skills, must have solid PC skills including, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Outlook. Graphical software (i.e., Visio) experience is preferred. Description Responsible for: the Regional Network Planning of assigned Market Area Networks, ensuring that the network is positioned to meet current and future market demand. The Planning function is achieved by gathering market demand requirements, analyzing network utilization, and developing network plans that position the network to meet the market demand in a timely and cost effective manner. The Manager of Network Planning is responsible for leading and managing a team of Network Planners, and the performance of (but not limited to) the following Network Planning activities: Planning interface with, and support of, key organizations such as Network Development, Customer Implementation Management, Sales, Product Development, and Network Operations, ensure that the current network configuration complies with the Network Architecture design criteria. Requirements Background in the Operations and Maintenance of transmission networks. Familiarity with the following Description Performs the day -to-day operational functions associated with operation of the Metromedia Fiber Network (MFN). Responsible for pre-operational construction monitoring and support and post operational maintenance of the MFN network and components. Monitors subcontractor personnel in the construction and operation of the MFN. Responsible for hardware maintenance, site maintenance, and new location surveys, for MFN area operations activities. Pre-operational: Assist the MFN Engineering Department with network construction activities. Monitor contractor and sub-contractors performing conduit installation, cable placement and splicing. Provide preliminary site surveys for building entrance construction requirements and equipment space availability. Assist Real Estate personnel and monitor contractors during building construction. Provide periodic status reports to Engineering Project Management.
